Watch of gryphons

Gryphons of stone - winged lions with fierce heads of eagles. They witness much pain and much happiness. Monsters of antiquity - but even they can't save the earth from its end.

Dare I leave my castle?

A question I ask myself every time the scent of romance tempts me. As anyone who knows me can tell you, I haven't left my castle yet.

~

I approach my horizon with scales in my palms
weighing up the two options in my grasp.
One is singleness, kingdom of all I behold, my future in the stars.
The other is love, a foreign country, a curious smell.
Like Seligman's dogs I fear to tread, though the path appears clear.

How I have hammered futility into the cracks of my castle wall
bruising self into pulp, a hideous spectacle.
I accepted fate and grew mad, re-weaving my life's tapestries.
But now the padlock has popped, and the drawbridge is down
yet I am unsure if I can leave, given my shameful state.

I do not know what awaits on the other side.
I may complain that life was better in Egypt.
And what if I never get there, the bridge may be rotten
I may fall and be consumed by the crocodiles of public opinion.
In any case, how can I eat fruit with toothless gums?

Easy - you have two options:

1) False teeth - not the best option

2) Gather the fruit, stew it, tend it, soften it, sweeten it, add fresh springwater, stir it and shake it; the result: a fruit smoothie free of pips, stones and skin; much easier to swallow. It may take some time, but as is always the case when making fruit smoothies you'll find the sweet and refreshing result well worth it. I'm sure if anyone could make a good fruit smoothie you could.

By the way have you noted my latest post ;)
